Bachelor Project - 6. Semester Project

Vehicle Classification Using Laser Scanners

General Description

This project is based on the 6th semester theme "Interactive Systems Design". It explores the field of computer vision, by creating a LiDAR based vehicle detection and classification software. Based on predefined vehicle classes, a system using two LiDAR, a detection algorithm, and a classification algorithm chosen based on scanner profiles and attributes, was developed. Based on a number of vehicle attributes, organized as a feature vector, vehicles were classified using a support vector machine. Furthermore, an interface is developed for interacting with the LiDAR supplied data. Finally does the report test the algorithms on a road in Aalborg, Denmark, and test the user interface against predefined usability heuristics, a Flow State Scale questionnaire, along with an Intrinsic Motivation Inventory questionnaire.
